224. Slavery is and has always been a crime against humanity.

225. The Trans-Atlantic Slave trade and the slavery carried out in the Americas are internationally recognized as crimes against humanity.

227. Prior to and during the era of chattel slavery in North America, Customary International Law did not recognize the legality of slavery.
